'Hound men fall to 5th-ranked Cowley

ARKANSAS CITY -- Fort Scott Community College's men fell to fifth-ranked Cowley here Wednesday night, 79-56, in Jayhawk Conference-Eastern Division play.

Jack Crowder led Cowley (2-0 East, 13-1 overall) with 18 points as he made eight of 11 shots from the field. Jawanza Poland followed with 16 points for the Tigers.

Darrell Blanton scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Greyhounds (1-1, 7-7). Bryce Kemp added 10.

The Tigers outrebounded the 'Hounds, 44-29 and outshot them as well, making 46 percent of their field-goal attempts on 33 of 71. Fort Scott was 20 of 62 from the field for 33 percent although the 'Hounds were six of 15 from three-point range.

The Greyhounds host Johnson County in a division game at 4 p.m. Saturday at FSCC's Arnold Arena. That follows the women's contest, which begins at 2 p.m.
