Jordan and William Hale
Jordan Blair Johnson and William Nornhausser Hale exchanged wedding vows in the Tarrytown United Methodist Church, Austin, Texas, on April 19, 2008. The 6 p.m. ceremony was officiated by the Revs. Ron Campbell and James Carter, amid floral decorations of green hydrangeas, and pink and white stock, reflecting the couple's chosen wedding colors. Dr. Elaine Dykstra, organist, and Dr. Keita Winking, trumpeter, provided musical selections. A wedding reception followed at the Westwood Country Club, in Austin. The newlyweds honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii, and San Francisco, Calif., and are making their home in Austin, where the bride is the Assistant Attorney General for the Texas Attorney General's office, and the groom is the Assistant District Attorney for the 33rd and 424th Judicial Districts of Texas.
The bride is the daughter of Carl and Cindy Johnson, of Nevada, Mo., and the granddaughter of Kenneth and Velma Wescoat, of Nevada, and Shirley Young, of Independence, Mo.
The groom is the son of Chris and Janet Hale, of Austin, Texas, and the grandson of Dr. Cecil Hale, of Austin.
Escorted by her father, Carl Johnson, the bride wore an ivory gown of Mikado fabric, featuring a trumpet skirt and train. Satin bands of embellished stitching accented the bodice and waist of the gown designed by Carolina Herrera. Sheer organza straps were added to the gown to give it a unique touch. The bridal veil, adorned with sparkling stones that reflected the light as the bride walked, flowed from a headpiece of crystals and pearls, to just beyond the train of the gown. Her jewelry of diamond earrings and pearls, were gifts from the bride's father to the bride's mother, on their own wedding day. The bride carried an ivory bouquet of ranunculus, stephanotis, gardenias and white hydrangeas wrapped with an ivory ribbon and secured with pearls and crystal. Tucked inside the bouquet was an antique pin which belonged to the bride's great-grandmother, Mary Wescoat.
Kathryn Lueck attended the bride as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kara Batey, Megan Eatherton, Holly Liter, Mey Ling Ly and Rashee Raj. The attendants wore floor-length, strapless gowns of silk dupioni, in spring green, accented by shirred white wrap ties. Each carried bouquets of pink and white ranunculus, green hydrangeas and hypericum berries.
Best men were the groom's brothers, John, Michael and Patrick Hale. Groomsmen were Durell Carothers, Jason Herd and Landon Hertel. Boutonnieres worn by the wedding party were pink ranunculus.
Ushers were Kyle Blair, T.J.Brown, Stewart Geise and James Parker. House party attendants were Olevia Carthers, Anna herd, Allyson Hertel and Valerie Parker. Ceremony readers were Cameron Kinvig and Darra Johnson, aunt of the bride.
The bride and groom arrived at Westwood Country Club in a vintage white Bentley, to begin their evening reception. Classic and fun music played throughout the evening, performed by the band, Alter Ego. Foral arrangements, reflecting the bridal colors, included tall curly willow with clusters of pink orchards and green hydrangeas in the dining room, and arrangements of green orchids and white stock in the garden room and on the terrace. On the cake table, a covering of green orchids topped the five-tier Italian cream bridal cake, featuring white butter cream icing, with simple accents of white dots and light green fondant stripes around each layer. The chocolate groom's cake with chocolate mousse filling was a 3-D cowboy boot. Guests were treated to several food buffets and a special table featured glass jars filled with a variety of white, green and pink candies. Guests were encouraged to help themselves to the "candy bar" throughout the night and special gift boxes were provided for guests to take home a party favor.
Prior to the wedding ceremony, a rehearsal dinner held at Green Pastures, in Austin, and hosted by the groom's parents, Chris and Janet Hale, featured a Mexican theme complete with pinatas and a mariachi band. Darra Johnson, the bride's aunt, hosted a bridal tea luncheon at the Headliners Club, in Austin.
