RAYMOND ALLEN MAPES
Raymond Allen Mapes, age 43, resident of Pittsburg, Kan., died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg, Kan..
He was born March 5, 1965, in Wichita, Kan., the son of George William Mapes, Sr. and Mary Luella McVey Mapes. Raymond was a 1982 graduate of Pittsburg High School. He was employed for 19 years as disc jockey with KKOW Radio Station in Pittsburg. He married Tia "Lisa" Hutchens in February of 2000. Raymond attended Victory Life Center in Pittsburg.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Hutchens-Mapes, LaHarpe, Kan.; five sons, Morgan, Trevor, Raymond, Cody and Konnor Hutchens-Mapes, all of LaHarpe; four daughters, Donna Hutchens, Iola, Kan., and Emily, Jesse, and Mackenzie Hutchens-Mapes, all of LaHarpe.
Also surviving are four brothers, Noel Mapes and George Mapes, Jr., both of Wichita, Kan., Richard Mapes and Harold Mapes, both of Pittsburg, Kan.; five sisters, Mary Gross, Porter, Texas, Rosella Rock and Dorinda Durossette, both of Fort Scott, Sharon Wiggans, Nevada, Missouri, and Shirley Taylor, Pittsburg, Kan.; and one grandson, Logan Hutchens, Iola.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George Junior Mapes and a sister, Karen Faye Mapes.
Sandy Stout will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Farlington Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
