HELEN LOUISE MCBRIDE

Helen Louise McBride, age 78, resident of the Highrise Apartments, 315 Scott Avenue, Fort Scott, Kan., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at the Johnson County Nursing Center in Olathe, Kan.

She was born Feb. 28, 1930 in Fort Scott, the daughter of Charles Newman Hood and Violet Grace Feagins Hood. Helen was a 1947 graduate of Fort Scott High School.

She married Floyd Leon McBride on Feb. 8, 1952 in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2008.

She worked for many years in sales at Litwin's Department Store. Helen was a member of the Community of Christ Church.

Survivors include a son, Ronnie Dean McBride and wife Kim, Olathe, Kan.; a daughter, Terri Townsend and husband John, Fort Scott; and one brother, Bob Hood and wife Shirley, Moundville, Mo.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Aubrey McBride, Christina Townsend and Kimberly Hull. In additon to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeff McBride.

Earl Severy will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, Kan. 66701.
