Thursday, November 20, 2008
PAWNEE 4-H held their monthly club meeting on Oct. 24 at the home of club members Michaela and Caden Webb.
The Webbs hosted a Halloween party and Hayride for the club. Members played games, roasted hotdogs, enjoyed refreshments and were scared silly on the spooky hayride through the countryside.
November brought the arrival of the Annual 4-H County Achievment banquet on Nov. 7 at the 4-H Building in Fort Scott. Fifteen members received their pin awards for the 2007-2008 4-H year. Five members of Pawnee 4-H were also named County Champions for their record books for the following project areas: Taylor Bailey, Performing Arts; Katie Brown, Shooting Sports and Bucket Calf; Meredith Hill, Fiber Arts; Kelcie Bailey, Pets; and Jacob Pemberton, Space Tech.
Thanksgiving was celebrated early by Pawnee 4-H at their Nov. 11 meeting held at the 4-H Building in Fort Scott. A buffet meal of turkey was enjoyed by 25 club members, 28 parents and siblings and two special guests, Joe and Ann Ludlum.
The regular meeting was held following the dinner and officers were inducted.
Officers for the 2008-2009 4-H year are Taylor Bailey, President; Sydney Cullison, Vice President; Michaela Webb, secretary; Dacey Simpson, treasurer; Katie Brown, reporter, Meredith Hill, historian, Natalie Carr, parlimentarian; Jacob Pemberton, 4-H Council Rep; Kortney Heaton, Morgan Manly, Kelcie Bailey, and Morgan Carr, song leaders; Drew Sinn, Austin Chadd, Gabby Martin, Myla Manley, and Caden Webb, Recreation Leaders; and Meghan Guss, Pawnee Pal.
After the meeting, Gabby Martin did a Health and Safety talk on ATV safety. Meghan Guss did a demonstration on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Meredith Hill did a project talk on how to make a candle cover out of safety pins.
Gabby Martin was awarded the traveling trophy for her presentation to keep until the next meeting.
Officer training was held Thursday, Nov. 13 at the new Middle School in Fort Scott, and V-President Sydney Cullison, Secretary Michaela Webb, Treasurer Dacey Simpson, Reporter Katie Brown, Historian Meredith Hill, Parlimentarian Natalie Carr, Song Leaders Kelcie Bailey and Morgan Carr, and Recreation Leader Caden Webb were in attendance. They learned about their responsibilities as officers in clubs and how to fulfill their duties.
The next monthly meeting for Pawnee 4-H is scheduled for Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at the 4-H building.
In the spirit of Christmas, members are asked to bring either kid's gloves, stocking caps, socks, or pj's to donate to the Beacon and/or Mother to Mother Ministries.
