birthday celebration with family
Thursday, September 4, 2008
All of the children, grand-children and great grand children were at the farm to help their mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Beverly Geiger celebrate her August 17 birthday. Becky Brown made lasagna and chicken Tetrazinni for the main course, while others brought carry in dishes. Bob Geiger made home made ice cream to complete the celebration. Those present were Pat and Ken Ramsey, Joplin, Arron and Lori Ramsey, Connor and Kendall and Ryan and Becky Ramsey, Webb, City, Bob and Louise Geiger, Tulsa, Brandi Geiger, McKena and Chance, Owasso, Okla, and Thaine Geiger and Caleb and Cody, Fort Scott, Becky and Joe Brown, Augusta, and Nathan Brown, Kansas City and Kevin Brown, Wichita; Jeff and Bethanne Geiger, Catherine, Lauren, and Kristen all of Pittsburg, and Dewaine Geiger, husband of the honoree.
Justin and Kelly Geiger, and Josh and Logan, came up one week earlier and spent the weekend with their grandparents.
Mrs. Norma Dunn spent some of her vacation visiting her parents, and assisted in the care of her father who had surgery, in St. Elmo, Iowa recently.
Dewaine and Beverly Geiger and Don and Carrie Elbrader attended the Parish Picnic, held at the Hiattville Church Sunday Evening. A covered dish dinner was served outdoors. The group went to the sanctuary of the church and enjoyed a program with participation from each church. Lavon Middleton sang a solo, "It Is No Secret What God Can Do," representing the Uniontown Methodist Church; Rev. Glen Duderstadt, of the Mapleton and Devon Churches, led group singing, accompanied by Ann Ludlum.
Cassandra Schwalm sang a vocal solo representing the Hiattville Church.
The Hiattville Church has a choir and they sang several numbers. They were accompanied by their Minister, Pastor Mary Akins, on the dulcimer, along with her husband, Rev. Jim Akins, on the autoharp, as they sang "Amazing Grace." Lavon Page played the harmonica along with the musical group. Pastor Vida Williams, St. Johns and Hammond, played a medley of assorted hymns on the piano which was appreciated by all.
Members of the Methodist Church met at the home of Jake Underwood, Wednesday evening, to work on their float for the Annual Old Settlers Celebration, which is always held over the Labor Day weekend.
