According to Kissick Construction Company Project Superintendent Mike Eddings, the downtown StreetScape project is still moving forward according to schedule. Beginning next week, the portion of Main Street from First Street to Wall Street will be closed to traffic. Eddings said crews will begin replacing the sidewalks on that road. Even though the road will be closed to traffic, Eddings said shoppers will be have sidewalk access to the business on that block.

When asked why the sidewalks could not be replaced without closing the road, Eddings explained the dangers of allowing motorists on the road while his men are working.

"It is the safest and best way," he said.
