Local 4-Hers attend camp
Wednesday, June 18, 2008
Nine Bourbon County 4-H members attended county 4-H camp at Rock Springs 4-H Center June 11-14. Almost 300 youth, along with 70 teen and adult counselors and Extension agents from 10 counties, attended the camp south of Junction City.
Amanda Brown, a member of the Hiattville 4-H Club, was recognized as one of six distinguished counselors who will have the opportunity to attend Buckeye Leadership Workshop in Ohio next March. Amanda was the counselor for a group of 8 girls at the camp.
Tanner Howard, also of the Hiattville 4-H Club, and his group of six boys, were recipients of the Spirit Stick. They were recognized for their enthusiasm in leading songs and keeping campers calm while everyone was in the tornado shelters the first night of camp.
Campers participated in a variety of nature activities, educational classes, sports, crafts, and technology activities led by Rock Springs staff and county Extension agents. Local youth were accompanied by Delta George and Ann Ludlum, county Extension agents.
