AHS 'Our Gang' to meet June 28

Diane and Paul Starne announce the birth of their grandson, Brody Aaron Baker, born May 30, 2008, at Mt. Carmel Hospital, Pittsburg, Kan. His parents are Dallas Baker and Brandy Beeching. He has a sister, Taylor. Paternal grandparents are Robert and Candy Baker of Pittsburg and Larry Beeching of Joplin.

Dalton James Windsor of KKOW Radio in Pittsburg works with farmers once a week. He recently helped tear down a barn. Windsor and Ed Fields visited Mae Watt last week while working in Arcadia territory. Fields will be remembered as the Pepsi Man back when the Watts had a business at the mile corner.

AHS Our Gang will meet the fourth Saturday, June 28, this month, in Arcadia Community Center. Bill Buchanan, Vice President of Arcadia Alumni Association, will grill. All food will be furnished and the cost divided plus $1 from each who attend. This extra fund will be used for the Arcadia Kids Christmas Fund. RSVP is requested, call (620) 347-8193.

Dr. Bill Corporon, known for his past work in Mt. Carmel emergency room a few years ago, now in the Kansas City area with his wife, Melinda Corporon, had a cookout to honor her Father, Travis Gordy, on Sunday, June 15. Family members present were Bill's sister, Gael and Dave Martin from Spring Hill, Kan., Mindy and Len Losen with Reat and Lukas; Tony and Dana Corporon with Andrew. Also Travis and Gayla Coporon with Travis, the second.

Betty Dehn took Mae Watt and Mary V. Shead from Arcadia, on Tuesday, June 3, to pick up Vera Parrish in Pittsburg. The ladies went to Carrington Place to enjoy lunch with a former Arcadian and good friend to the ladies, Medg Bright. They were escorted to a lovely dining room setting and served a three course dinner. Medg then showed them her private room where they hashed over old times. Vera and Medg were co-cooks at the Arcadia Grade School. Medg was a faithful member of Autumn Leaves Senior Citizens and attended Christian Church before moving to Girard and later to Pittsburg. The guests enjoyed greeting others living in Carrington Place before returning home.

Upon returning from a business meeting, in Tulsa, Tom Watt took his Mother, Mae Watt to Lees' Summit, Mo. There, Billi and Delton Watt Jr. joined them. The Watt men and sons, Bill and Bruce Watt; Delton Jr. and Aaron Edwards; Tom and Tom Watt Jr, Austin Siemens and Jeff Ralston all played in the FROGG Golf Tournament. One hundred people including the ladies, Mae, Phyllis, Karen and Billi Watt, six grandchildren including Jenny Edwards and Jennie Woodward who enjoyed the lunch held in the club house along with awarding prizes, drawings for gifts and greeting of old time friends.

On Saturday, Mae went with Delton Jr and Billi to their farm home in Fayette, Mo. Sunday, they attended the Faith Family Church and had other invited guests for dinner. On Tuesday he took Mae back to Arcadia.

The other Watt brother, Allen and Linda of Wichita, spent their time in Dallas -- Fort Worth, Texas, attending the car races.

Allen's son, Douglas Watt and Larry Knouft, purveyors of fine drinks were at the Smokey Mountain Fair in Salina when one of the stoms came up. He called his grandmother Mae to tell her he was ok.
