Tuesday, June 17, 2008

The Redfield Community Ruritan Club met June 12, at the Redfield United Methodist Church Annex, with 12 members present. Following the potluck meal, the business meeting was held.

Shawn Campbell, Zone Two Governor, was present. He presented Lewis Williams with a framed certificate and Ruritan pin recognizing Lewis as having been a member of the club for 40 years. He is one of the original members of the club.

Final plans were made for the annual Ruritan Celebration to be held in the Redfield City Park June 28. Activities for children and adults will take place all day beginning with a parade at 10 a.m. and ending with a Chicken Mary's Dinner and Draft Horse Pull in the evening. Members were reminded that people should buy tickets for the meal in advance if possible as only a limited number of meals will be sold that evening.

The Club voted to make a monetary donation to help buy mulch made from rubber tires to put under the park playground equipment. The Club also voted to make a monetary donation to Wayne Hall, whose home was recently destroyed by fire.

Members were reminded to sign up to work in the Concession Stand during the youth ballgames if possible.
