Five added to growing list of Pseudoephedrine arrests

Five people have been added to the list of those arrested for the illegal purchasing of Pseudoephedrine.
Jason Bower, 33, Deerfield, Mo., Derek Stumfoll, 24, Fort Scott, Michael Rhodes, 36, Fort Scott, Daniel Black, 25, Fort Scott, and Doug Miller, 50, Fort Scott, were all arrested on Bourbon County warrants for unlawful acts. Rhodes, Black and Miller were arrested May 21. Bower and Stumfoll were arrested on May 27. All posted $2,500 bond and were released from the Southeast Kansas Regional Correctional Center.
Seventeen people have now been arrested on suspicion of unlawful acts.
The warrants stemmed from a police investigation of information they obtained from area retail stores that sell pseudoephedrine/ephedrine-based medicines.
According to a law passed last year, it's illegal for a person to buy, receive or acquire more than 3.6 grams of pseudoephedrine or ephedrine in any one transaction or more than 9 grams of the substances within a 30 day period.
