The Hiattville unit of United Methodist Women met May 12, with Beverly Davis presiding. Davis opened the meeting by reading a story about carrying water in a basket, which related to reading the Bible. When something is first read, all of it may not be retained, but as it is read daily, it gradually changes lives from the inside out.

Roll call was answered by eight members telling their most memorable graduation.

Davis presented the lesson on the "Purpose" of the United Methodist women. Focusing on the phrase from the Purpose, a community of women whose purpose is to know God, each one present selected a scripture reading from the worship center and read it to the person whose name was on the the reading. Then they presented them with a colorful cross to wear around their neck, Davis had created beautiful worship centers with lovely scarfs, an open Bible and a white porcelain cross.

Reports were made by Lavone Page, Slater and Davis on the Bible Study they had attended in Mound City May 4, taught by Pastor Dallas Peterson.

The unit will be hosting the District officers sometime in June. The definite date has not been set yet.
