Community breakfast Sunday at Mapleton UMC

Thursday, February 7, 2008

The community breakfast held each month on the second Sunday was hosted by the Mapleton United Methodist Church on Jan. 13. The tables were full of wonderful food prepared by blessed hands, and the chairs were full of family and friends from the three area churches and the community. The Mapleton United Methodist Church, the Mapleton Christian Church and the Community of Christ each take turns hosting this community breakfast. The next breakfast will be at the Mapleton Christian Church on Liberty Street in Mapleton at 9 a.m. on Feb. 10. This community breakfast is open to anyone. You do not have to attend one of these churches to be welcome. If you have transportation issues, please contact Linda at (620) 743-5101 and a ride will be provided for you. We don't want any reason stopping anyone who wants to come.

This began several years ago to not only minister to the needs of the churches here in Mapleton, but to the community and the total area.

If you feel more comfortable bringing a dish for you or your family, we will welcome it, but please don't let this keep you away -- there is always enough food to go around. God fed the multitudes a long time ago and he continues to feed them today.

Mapleton Red Hats met at the Mapleton C-Store on Jan. 18 and discussed the coming events for the New Year. Several "reduations" will be coming up in the coming months. The next meeting will be on Feb. 15.

The Community of Christ Church hosted a Singspiration on Sunday, Jan. 27, with a dinner that followed. There was a special birthday surprise for Helen Long's birthday.
