Marmaton Valley sweeps Pleasanton

MORAN, Kan. -- Pleasanton's teams were swept by Marmaton Valley here in a non-league doubleheader between the Three Rivers League rivals Friday night.

Marmaton Valley's boys took a 65-29 win while Wildcat girls gained their first victory of the season, 45-35.

In the boys' contest, Gavin Cole scored 24 points and Josh Deer added 13 as Marmaton Valley (9-3) prevailed. The Wildcats held a 19-5 lead after one period of play.

Adam Peters led Pleasanton (3-9) with seven points.

The Blu-Jays (2-10) led 9-6 after one period of a see-saw battle. But the Wildcats (1-11) managed to get within one at the half, then tie it at 27-27 going into the fourth quarter.

Jill Hartman led Marmaton Valley with 11 points. Megan Allen paced the Blu-Jays with 13 while Morgan Conrad added 10.

The Blu-Jays host St. Paul Tuesday as they finally play their first TRL doubleheader of the season.
