GARY LEE MARSHALL

Gary Lee Marshall, age 51, longtime resident of Fort Scott, Kansas and more recently of Springfield, Missouri, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 22, 2008, at the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. He was born April 25, 1956, in Fort Scott, the son of Everitt and Bonnie Marshall.

After high school in Fort Scott, Gary served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He married Carla Hillman on January 11, 1975, in Fort Scott. While in Fort Scott he worked at Ray Shepherd's for many years and also for the U.S. National Cemetery.

He loved his family and enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting.

Gary is survived by his wife, Carla, of the home in Springfield; his daughter, Melissa Ward and husband Matt, Springfield; his parents, Everitt and Bonnie Marshall, Fort Scott; his sister, Judy Cooper and husband Mike, Fort Scott; his brother, Shawn Marshall and wife Chana, Fort Scott; granddaughter, Macey Ward; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services for Gary Marshall will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2008, at the Cheney Witt Chapel, with Rev. Don Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.
