Schedule set for Pleasanton tourney
PLEASANTON -- The first-round schedule for the annual Pleasanton Mid-Season Basketball Tournament was released this morning by PHS athletic director Alan King.
The first day of tournament play will be Tuesday. Play is also scheduled for Thursday and Saturday with Friday held open as a snow day.
In addition to the host Blu-Jays, Uniontown, Humboldt, Northeast-Arma, Prairie View and Crest all return while Jayhawk-Linn and Central Heights have been added. Olathe Berean Christian and Kansas City (Mo.) Metro Academy did not return to the event.
Tuesday's play will begin at 4 p.m. Uniontown's girls will play Prairie View in the first girls' game in the south gymnasium while Jayhawk-Linn's boys take on Crest at the same time in the north gym.
At 5:30, Uniontown and Prairie View will face off in a boys' contest in the south gym while Central Heights' girls take on Crest in the north gym.
At 7 p.m., Jayhawk-Linn's girls take on Northeast in the south gym while Pleasanton's girls play Humboldt in the north gym.
The day wraps up at 8:30 with Humboldt's boys facing Northeast in the south gym and Pleasanton's boys playing Central Heights in the north gym.
Thursday's schedule will not be determined until sometime Wednesday morning. This is in a bid to keep teams from the same school playing at the same time as much as possible.
Saturday's schedule, also subject to change, starts with the girls' seventh-place game at 3 p.m. in the south gym and the boys' seventh-place game in the north gym at the same time.
At 4:30, boys' and girls' consolation finals are scheduled with the girls' game taking place in the south gym and the boys' in the north gym.
The girls' championship game will take place at 6 p.m. in the north gym. The boys' third-place game will be held in the south gym at the same time.
The boys' championship game is scheduled for 7:30 Saturday in the north gym while the girls' third-place game is scheduled at the same time.
Adjustments to Saturday's schedule can be made to avoid teams from the same school playing at the same time. Only the championship game times are truly fixed in case such a situation occurs.
