Arcadians participate in post-holiday season activities

All are to be reminded the next Community gospel Singing will be the first Saturday evening in February, from 6:30 -8:30 PM and then each month thereafter. Attendance is increasing as much interestt is being shown in this city-wide activity.
Delton Jr. and Billi Watt with Joseph came to Arcadia for a pre-Christmas holiday from Friday to Sunday and attended Christian Church services with Mae WAtt. On Christmas day , they drove to Kansas City Airport for Joseph to fly to Texas to visit his sister, Grandfather and his Dad.
As Delton and Billi traveled back to their home in Fayette, Mo. they were invited by his Brother Bill and Karen Watt to join them for dinner in Independence, Mo.
From there the travelers visited in the home of another brother, Tom and Phyllis Watt in Lees Summit, Mo. They reported enjoying the lights and decorations in the Plaza area.
Allen and Linda Watt while enroute to Padre Island, Texas on December 25 for a two week vacation called his Mother Mae. Back home in Wichita, they had Christmas dinner for each of their faimlies before the trip.
Their son, Douglas Watt and friend Don Bassett with Brittany their hunting Dog, came to this area for a week visit with Mae Watt and Bill and Diane Morrison in Franklin, Ks. during the holidays.
Forrest and Ernestine Berkey had Christmas dinner with Angela and Bill Redd and daughters Kristen and Bethany in their rural Pittsburg home. There they exchanged their Christmas gifts.
During the holiday week, Ernestine dressed in her Santa Claus suit and red cap visited Medg Bright, Merlin Zollars and Margaret Nettleton at the Carrington Place in Pittsburg. All the residents enjo yed the novelty of the day.
The Sheads had Christmas Eve 1:00 PM dinner in the home of Cindy and Ralph Shead in Carl Junction, Mo., with special guests, KOAM weatherman, Geoff Cornish and wife Angie. Family members were Matthew and Ashley Shead from Joplin; Sarah Shead, Downy, California; Larry and Vickie Shead, Garland, KS., Maria Shead, Tulsa, Okla.., Michael Shead, Michigan and the elder of them all, Mary V. Shead, Arcadia.
The Take-Away-Game was played with the gifts under the Christmas Tree near the Manger Scene. Table games were played that evening.
On Christmas Day, the Garland Sheads served a 2:00 PM dinner to the above family members plus Mark and Haley Shead and Katy who returned to their Fort Scott home on Christmas Eve. They had been visiting Haley;s parents in Texas. Shirley Applegarth joined the family late afternon having just returned from visiting her families in Nebraska.
On Christmas Eve Michael and Maria and Larry Shead went caroling with a group of young people in Fort Scott.
Thiirteen enjoyed the First Sunday in the month Fried chicken Dinner in Christian Church bungalow on January 6 following Morning Worship and Sunday School. Alania and Bridgette Sprague were special guests with their Grandfather, Pat Allen at Sunday School time.
After the dinner, Gary Peterson, JOY Class teacher, left for a day of hunting.
Jace and Jesse Pavlik, youth SS teachers were absent due to the death of a family member in Coldwater, Kansas.
Pastor David Peterson read from the Book of Luke and told of the Childhood of Jesus Life. Jesus became the Passover Lamb.
He cautioned us to "Take Jesus with you and Live a Christian Life Style." Don Bright and Walter Foulk served at the Communion table after devotions from lst Corinthians were read. The birthday song was dedicated to Donald Bright. A birthday card was signed for Judy Rawlings to be sent to her.
