The 50th wedding anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. John Emmerson, living eight miles northeast of Fort Scott, was celebrated Dec. 18th, 1907. The affair was a surprise to the Emmersons. When their children and friends came, all apparently by chance, the family was all at home. It is composed of the following: Miss Sarah, Mrs. John H. Todd, of Liberal, Mo.; Mrs. A.B . Cochran, of Fort Scott; Mr. Isaac Emmerson Jr.; Mrs. Hughes Cowan; and Miss Dencie Emmerson. Soon after 1 p.m. the spacious dining room was opened, displaying arrangements of carnations and a delcious meal . This year completes 40 years as residents of Bourbon County, where has been established one of the happiest homes of the many in our county. All who were present hope that this home may continue to be a happy meeting place for many years to come.

George Vandenboch, a tramp, came to the police station last night and told the police he had been tied up and robbed by two men in a Katy boxcar while enroute from Nevada to Fort Scott. A third man, who was first suspected in the robbery but later befriended Vandenboch, vouched for the story. They claimed that $4.65 in cash and a gold watch was taken from Vandenboch. One man gave back a portion of the robbery, amounting to 65 cents, and the watch, but the other two men escaped with $4.
A very enjoyable Christmas party was given a the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Updike for the Bunker Hill Sunday School, of which Mrs. Updike is superintendent. Of the 50 present, all were children excepting for six. The home's four rooms were beautifully decorated. The tree proved to be a particular joy to the Updikes, who never had a tree in their home before. Previously, Christmas dinners were featured at the old homestead. Mrs. Updike appreciated greatly the gift of kitchen utensils, a pan and a bowl from the children.

Sports Ramblings (By Fred Ury)--A report is going around that a combined half-mile horse race track and a one-fourth mile hot rod runway may be constructed south of Fort Scott near the junction of the highways 69 and 39 this summer. It would be built under the arcs. The names of the proposed sponsors have not been divulged.
