(1907)

Shortly y before daylight this morning a large crowd at the Frisco station, whose vigil for the incoming circus had dated back to that time of the night when everything was in inky darkness, heard the long blast of a locomotive and within a few minutes the first section of the Barnum-Bailey Circus, long heralded as the "greatest show on earth," was in Fort Scott. The show came here from Kansas City. The first train contained the tents, seats and other equipment and was unloaded in a jiffy to be moved to Athletic Park. The big tent was practically filled to capacity for this afternoon's entertainment. The troupe consists of a very industrious and orderly set of men who worked diligently in getting things ready for the show.
