Pioneer Harvest Parade Sept. 27

Ushering in the 51st Annual Pioneer Harvest Fiesta will be the downtown parade scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27 in downtown Fort Scott.

The parade is one of the premier events in the annual celebration of late 19th and 20th century gas and steam-powered engines, tractors and farm machinery that will take place Sept. 28-30 at the Bourbon County Fairgrounds.

Parade entry forms are available at the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce, 231 E. Wall St., or by e-mail at www.pioneerharvestfiesta.com. There is no charge to enter a unit in the parade. Entries will be judged in 10 categories, including Vintage Farm, Classic Farm, Antique Car or Truck, Classic Car or Truck, Foot Unit, Shrine Unit, Float, Musical Groups, Horses, and Miscellaneous. Two prizes will be awarded in each category.

Pre-registered parade entries must be turned in by Monday, Sept. 24 to parade chairwoman Joyce Gobl, 2125 S. Holbrook, Fort Scott, Kan., 66701. Entries received on the day of the parade are welcome, but only pre-registered entries received by Sept. 24 will be eligible for judging.
