Developmental screenings for young children

Developmental screening will be available for preschool aged children at West Bourbon Elementary on Friday morning, Aug. 31. The purpose of the screening clinics is to locate children with possible developmental delays that may need special education or related services or who need assistance with referrals to other service agencies. Vision, hearing, speech and developmental screenings will be conducted for children from birth through age for at no cost. A telephone interview will be conducted as a part of the prescreening appointment process.

Appointments for children from birth to age two can be made by calling Beth Case at (620) 249-2949 or Christy Nelson at (800) 362-0390 extension 1765.

Appointments for children ages three through five years may be made by calling Debbie Potter at (620) 235-3152. Early scheduling of appointments is encouraged.

The clinic is sponsored by the Southeast Kansas Special Education Interlocal 637, the birth to three program, Smart Start and the supporting school districts of Pittsburg, Frontenac, Cherokee, Arma, Uniontown and Girard. The next scheduled clinic is Oct. 19 in Pittsburg.
