Lucille Mae Jones
Lucille Mae Jones, 76, of Liberal, Mo., passed away at 8:16 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at Mercy Health Center in Fort Scott following a short illness.
Lucille was born Feb. 27, 1931, near the family farm west of Liberal, to Wilbur and Ethel (Lasley) Jones. She graduated from Liberal High School in 1949 and worked for several years in the A.S. C.S. office in Lamar. She then worked for many years in Fort Scott for Western Insurance Company, later known as Lincoln National in 1991.
An active member of Liberal Christian Church, Lucille played the piano and was presently church organist as well as church correspondent. She loved the church and the Lord, and rarely missed a Sunday. She enjoyed reading her Bible, crocheting, growing beautiful roses and flowers in her garden. Lucille loved her family very much. She was crazy about her nieces and when the great-nieces and nephews came along she was equally excited about them. She loved visiting her neighbors, sending cards and sharing her flowers with people who were sick. She was very much a "people person."
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marjorie Jones, Liberal; a sister Norma Nell Fox, Norman, Okla.; seven nieces, Linda Davis, Olathe, Kan., Leann Barker, Liberal, Debbie Davis, Texas, Laura Scarlato, Rosenburg, Texas, Penny Montgomery, Oklahoma City, Okla.., Cindy Roche, Ozark, Mo., and Lisa Powell, Norman, Okla., many great-nephews and great-nieces. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at the Liberal Christian Church with burial in Rose Cemetery in Mulberry, Kan. Arrangement are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.
