Lawrence Thomas Daly
Lawrence Thomas Daly, 86, formerly of Fort Scott, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Golden Years Nursing Home in Harrisonville, Mo. He was born Dec. 26, 1920 in Fort Scott, Kan. the son of Cleveland Robert and Opal (Robinson) Daly.
Lawrence was born and raised in Fort Scott, and graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1939. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Tech Sergeant. He moved to St. Louis, Mo., and after eleven years, moved back to Fort Scott, where he was a plumber for many years. He was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and the VFW Post 1165. He is survived by two sons; Larry Daly, Jr. of Alaska, Tim Daly of Peculiar, Mo, a daughter; Annette Bolan of Fort Scott, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters; Gloria Beckman of Mound City, Kan., and Joyce Hutton of Garnett, Kan., and a brother; Bob Daly of Fort Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Hubert Daly, and a sister; Margaret Daly. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2007 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted at the service by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1165. Services are under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
