USD 234 school board to consider lease agreement
The USD 234 Board of Education will hold its first meeting of the summer at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the board office, 424 S. Main St.
After approving the consent agenda, the board will hear reports from each of the district's four school site council representatives. USD 234 Business Manager Alan Drake said the representatives will update the board on the progress that has been made throughout the past school year.
Drake said the board will also consider payment of fees for Mid West eServices, Inc., the realty company that has most recently been involved with the sale of the old Fort Scott Middle School building, 412 S. National Ave. Drake said that a percentage of the escrow funds accumulated from previous contracts for the sale of the building are due to the realty company.
The board will also consider a lease agreement of the York School building, located south of Fort Scott on Ironwood Road. Drake said the building, which is USD 234 property, is used for the local Head Start program. At Monday's meeting, the board will consider extending the lease agreement for the school through June 30, 2008.
The board will also consider a policy change regarding physicals for district bus drivers.
Also on Monday, the board will:
* Consider 2007-08 school meal fees.
* Consider fundraiser and extended trip applications.
* Review enrollment counts.
The board will go into executive session twice -- at 6:15 p.m. and 7:20 p.m. -- to discuss personnel matters for nonelected personnel. The board will return to open session after each executive session. After the second, the board will return to open session to consider employment matters and to set classified and administrative salaries for 2007-08.
A special board meeting is scheduled for noon on Tuesday, June 12 for a budget hearing and any other matters to come before the board.
