The Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints were here Saturday. The track was good, the weather cooperated and the racing was excellent with lots of close racing and a photo finish at the line in the Factory Stock Feature. This week is the Memorial Day Special with a purse of $2,500 to win the Modified Feature. This should really be exciting. We have regular nights of racing as well as many special races at the biggest little racetrack in the country.
Late Model heat race winners were Chris Hawkins, Neosho, and Jack Simmons, Erie, Kan. Hawkins took the lead at the start of the Feature and held it through all the action to claim his second Feature win of the season.
Modified heat race winners were Kevin Morrow, Nevada, and Jeff Douty, Butler. Morrow jumped into a commanding lead at the start of the Feature. Although several cautions closed the field behind him, he was able to maintain the lead and capture his third win of the season.
Street Stock heat race winners were Dustin Wyland, Mulberry, Kan., and Karl Lehmann, Nevada. Wyland and Zach Marsh battled for the lead in the Feature for several laps before Marsh was able to gain the position. Marsh maintained the lead through the balance of the race to collect the win, his second of the season.
Factory Stock heat race winners were Darren Dennison and Mark Godsey, both from Nevada. Scotty Bough got the lead at the start of the Feature and held it through the balance of the race until the last lap. Shawn Hendren, who had been quietly working his way through the field, passed Bough at the flag stand to take the win, his first of the season.
Mini Stock heat race winners were Scott Mohlfeld and Matt Rose, both from Liberal, Mo. Mohlfeld and Brandon Leer battled it out through all the Feature for the lead, with Leer capturing the win, his first of the season.
