CHESTER "CHET" WILLIAM OBER

Chester "Chet" William Ober, age 94, of 719 Walburn, Fort Scott, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at his home. He was born June 5, 1912, in Fort Scott, the son of Francis H. "Frank" Ober and Pearl Fonger Ober. He graduated from Fort Scott High School and attended Fort Scott Community College. He married Ardeline "Ardie" Milford Barlow on November 7, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in Fort Scott.

He was a life-long farmer and stockman in Fort Scott. Chester is survived by his wife, Ardie, of the home; step-son Ronald Barlow and wife Donna, Skokie, Illinois; step-daughter Sandra Barlow, Fort Scott; grandchildren Carrie Barlow and Lindsey Barlow Good and husband Tim; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Ober and Austin Ober; and four sisters, Daisy Melton, Ruby Potter, Wilma Tuggle, and Maxine Singmaster.

Funeral services for Chet Ober will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2007, at the Cheney Witt Chapel, with Pastor Bob Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Monday morning. The casket will be open for viewing during the visitation only.
