Fired up

Winfield Scott Elementary School students, from left, Maggie Findley, Kyle Brown and Lacie Forquer sing and dance during the school's academic pep assembly on Monday. The assembly was conducted to help get the students excited about taking the federally mandated state assessment tests which begin Tuesday at Winfield Scott. Students in other USD 234 schools began taking the assessment tests on Monday. The Fort Scott High School band performed, and Winfield Scott teachers led cheers during Monday's assembly.
