Union Bend Birthday Club met at Mayberry's Restaurant on Tuesday, Nov. 7, with Marge Stephan as hostess. Marge had plenty of candy and nuts on the table for all to enjoy and also presided over the meeting. Six members and two visitors, Marian Haller and Brady Peel, were present. For roll call, Marge chose to have them tell something that happened to them over this year. The hostess gift was won by Marjorie Lewis. A poem entitled, "When I'm an old lady," was read by Marjorie, too. Another hostess gift was won by Beverly Peel. The next meeting will be on Dec. 5, with Linda Center serving as hostess. She will announce the meeting place closer to that date.
Ron and Linda Center hosted a youth fellowship after the evening service on Sunday, Nov. 5. They served a sweet barbeque dish of meatballs, polish sausages, wieners and little smokies, several cheese balls, crackers, chips and Rotel cheese dip, fruit with marshmallow cream, caramel cheese dip, cookies and a milk chocolate bar cake. Sponsors attending the group were, Youth Pastor Brian and Brandy Rhoades, Caleb and Drew.
Jim and Rhonda Allen, Scott and Marliss traveled to Topeka to attend the Republican Polictial Rally and see President George W. Bush.
Wylma Campbell and Margaret Winter visited on Friday, Nov. 3, with Marjorie Lewis. They brought chicken salad with all the trimmings and they enjoyed playing cards after lunch.
Becky Canaday, daughter of Frank and Gypsy Hereford, entered the World Quarter Horse Association Barrel Racing Class, with her new horse, Chester, son of Hey Buddy, and won first place. Kelly O'Dell traveled to the show with Becky.
On Friday, Nov. 3, Bill and Ruth Lewis, Larry and Beverly Peel, Ron and Leah Lewis, Leesa and Taelor Lewis, Kitty Lewis and Brady Peel, celebrated Bill's birthday. Ruth brought a delicious chicken casserole. Beverly brought a dip and creamed peas, and Marjorie baked chocolate pies. Bill opened his cards and gifts after their meal.
Those working on the election board at the Community Christian Church on Tuesday, Nov. 7 were, Alberta Coe, Mary Darling, Richard Dixon, Jan Hoffman, Arlene Koester, Marge Majors, Lloyd Olson, Marge Stringer, John Swarts, and Linda Center.
On Sunday, Kitty Lewis brought fried chicken, shrimp, and coleslaw to the home of Marjorie Lewis. After they enjoyed their meal they played a game of cards.
