Dewaine and Beverly Geiger attended a reunion of the Martha Norris OES Grand Family in Kansas City recently. The Group served as Grand Officers of Eastern Star in 1992-1993. Mrs. Ruth Muse Lee, Kansas City, made the arrangements which included a trip to the dinner theater where they enjoyed dinner, followed by the delightful play, "Over The River And Through The Woods" starring Marion Ross who will be remembered as starring the role of mother on the Happy Days series several years ago. Fifteen people from over the state attended.
Saturday luncheon guests of Richard and Janice Ramsey were Ann Piland, Virginia Beach, Va., and Sally Savarese, Hobe Sound, Florida, Beverly Blake, Springfield, Mo., and Roy Clark, Fort Scott. Afternoon callers were Leo and Cathy Ramsey, Parsons. Ann and Sally will be remembered as the children of Bud and Margaret McAbee, and George, Jr. was the son of George and Laura Snyder, who lived in Uniontown several years ago. Beverly Blake was George Jr.'s wife and has always lived in Springfield.
Bob and Louise Geiger, Tulsa, visited their parents Nov. 4, and helped make apple butter the "old fashioned way" from apples from a local orchard. The applesauce roasted slow until it was dark, thick, and delicious, and was later sealed in glass jars to be stored for the winter. Thaine and Heather Geiger, Thaine and Cody were evening supper guests.
The Rev. Joel and Norma Dunn and Dewaine and Beverly Geiger attended the meeting of the Parrish Council held at the Methodist Church in Fulton.
The Uniontown Methodist Women met Wednesday, Nov. 15, in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. A loaf of nut bread was ready with a cup of coffee, as members arrived. President Pauline Hartman presided over the business meeting and welcomed the members who were present. She read a greeting from a holiday card expressing generous feelings toward others at this time of year. The Purpose was read in unison. Roll call was answered by seven members telling what they were thankful for. The minutes of the October meeting were read and approved. A note was read from Kay Beaman and Arla Hartman, Fort Scott, expressing their thanks and appreciation to them at the Roxa Draper Dinner. The Love Offering was taken.
The next meeting will be Dec. 13 and will be a Christmas party. The Redfield United Methodist Women are to be our guests. Roll call will be a Christmas memory. Members are to bring a gift, wrapped in a brown bag.
Cash donations were voted to be given to the Beacon and also Youth Ville, the church and UMW will cooperate in furnishing assistance to a needy family.
The new window treatment for the Fellowship Hall was discussed, and the project will be completed this year.
The meeting closed by all singing Kum Ba Yah. At the close of the meeting the members sorted, packed, and tabulated the collection of items to be taken to the Beacon in support of the Bishops Roundup for Hunger.
A group of friends and neighbors gathered at the Paint Creek Church of the Brethren, with well filled baskets of food, to share, and to catch up on each others families. The event was organized by Barbara Dare, with the idea of organizing a community meeting to be held every three months. Any one who is interested in having a community meeting please call and express your ideas. The supper consisted of chili, soups, relish, and a variety of desserts. Charles Dare voiced the table grace.
