ROBERT RAYMOND SPENCE
Robert Raymond Spence, age 54, Fort Scott, died Sunday, November 12, 2006, at Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born January 15, 1952, in Fort Scott, the son of Dexter Spence and Thelma Schamaun Spence.
Robert was a graduate of Fort Scott High School and received his degree in pharmacy from the University of Kansas in 1975 and received a degree in nuclear pharmacy from Oklahoma in 1979.
After forming and selling his nuclear pharmacy in Jacksonville, Florida, he returned to Fort Scott to serve as a local pharmacist until forced to retire in 2000, due to his lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two brothers, Michael Spence, Ruidoso, New Mexico and Jim Spence, Oskaloosa; and three sisters, Rebecca Strack, Mulvane, Lisa Spence, Leawood, and Lela Blake. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brothers, Joseph Benton and Elbert Marion Spence.
Pastor Joe Griffin will conduct memorial services at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006, at the Church of Christ, 15th and Crawford streets in Fort Scott.
Burial will take place at a later date in the Hiattville Cemetery.
