Michael Leroy Thurston, 70, passed away April 15, 2024. He was born March 27, 1954, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Mary Ann (Monroe) Thurston and Richard Wesley Thurston. Mike was raised in Fort Scott, Kan., and graduated from Fort Scott High in 1972. In 1976 he joined the United States Air Force, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. In 1980 he joined the National Guard, stationed at McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, Kan. He retired from the Air Force after 30 years of service...

The Fort Scott Community College women’s flag football team is gearing up for a trip to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and National Junior College Athletics Association nationals May 7-10 in Atlanta, Ga.
