Parents and other USD 235 patrons are being asked what they think about changing junior high sports practices from seventh hour to after school. Uniontown Junior Senior High School Principal Tracy Smith said transportation is always an issue for junior high students. He said the district currently runs buses at 5:15 p.m. for the after school program and if practices ran from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m., the student athletes could ride the same buses...

The USD 234 Board of Education on Monday heard recommendations from a Pittsburg-based firm on improving the district’s communications with staff and the public. Fort Scott High School’s Lady Tigers remain undefeated as they cruised to a 53-32 victory over the Chanute Lady Blue Comets, while the Tigers boys clawed back but ultimately fell 45-41 to Chanute on the road Friday night. The Tiger boys (2-3) came out on fire to come back in the third quarter after being down 17 at halftime, 33-16.
