George Edwin McReynolds, age 79, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at the Medicalodges of Fort Scott. He was born Nov. 22, 1941 in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Truman and Ethel Leona Pitts McReynolds. George worked a Walmart for 32 years and was manager of the electronics department. He loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed putting together puzzles and spending time with his two dogs. George loved spending time with family and friends, especially his time with the grandkids...

Fort Scott National Historic Site officials have made some early discoveries following a geophysical survey of the site grounds in August. A four-person crew from the Midwest Archaeological Center, an office of the National Park Service in Lincoln, Neb., used modern technology to survey various areas on the fort grounds.
