Margaret Marie Haas was born on Sept. 3, 1924, to Charles and Pearl Niemeir in Bourbon County, Kan. She was the eighth of 10 children. Marie attended Center School through the eighth grade and graduated from Fort Scott High School, Fort Scott, Kansas in 1942. As a young girl, Marie’s family began attending church services at the First Christian Church in Fort Scott, Kan. Mildred Van Dyke, 93, born in Fort Scott, Kan., has entered into her eternal rest on Oct. 15, 2019. She was widowed after 54 years of marriage to Hubert Van Dyke. Bourbon County Commissioners on Tuesday elected to install school zone signs and speed warnings on Indian Road near the St. Martin’s Academy.
