Jerry Dean Payne, age 78, a resident of Erie, Kan., passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at his home. He was born Sept. 4, 1940, in Fort Scott, Kan. He was raised by his mother, Alice May Brady Ashley and his step-father, William L. Ashley. Jerry graduated from the Herington High School. He married Wilma Winters on July 5, 1997, in Ft. Scott.
