Donald “Fred” Savage, 80, of Fulton, Kan., passed away Monday morning, Aug. 27, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kan. He was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Harrison, Ark., the son of Thomas Franklin and Rita Myrle (Willis) Savage. He married Joan Hays April 3, 1957, and she preceded him in death Aug. 22, 2017...

Motorcycle enthusiasts and other motorists went on a trek Saturday to raise money for wreaths at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Kevin Wagner, volunteer coordinator for the Wreaths Across America project, said the sixth annual ride raised enough money for the purchase of about 2,000 balsam wreaths, which will be placed on veterans’ gravestones at the cemetery in December.
