Fort Scott City Commissioners on Tuesday elected to pursue what city officials are calling a unique opportunity for the Fort Scott Municipal Airport. City Manager Dave Martin and other city officials presented information on an economic development proposal involving bringing a new jet repair station to the airport, as well as extension of the airport runway. Jerry Roper, age 84, Mound City, Kan., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017. He was born at Hutchinson, Kan., on June 5, 1933 the son of Russell and Selma Ochs Roper. He worked at Kelly Flour mill for several years and was the steward of the baker’ union, he was a mechanic, City of Blue Mound Superintendent, owned the Trading Post Inn and currently owned and operated Everybody’s with his wife, La Nita (Rhynerson) whom he married on April 23, 1988. ...
