Charles Marvin Parker, age 70, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, in Belton, Mo. There was cremation. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan. Military honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W. Longtime educator and administrator Marianna Daugherty plans to retire after the current school year, but she feels she's leaving the job in good hands. Daugherty, 65, principal at Winfield Scott School, is currently in her 38th year in education. In late 2016, she announced her plans to retire at the end of the 2016-17 school year.
