A Fort Scott Community College student died and two other people were injured in a Friday afternoon wreck in Pittsburg. According to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, 18-year-old Jazmin Kay Nunn of Arma, died in a single-vehicle crash that occurred about 1 p.m. Friday off Quincy Street in Pittsburg, west of Free Kings Highway...

Area firefighters handled various fires in different spots throughout the county over the weekend. About 4 a.m. Friday, firefighters with Scott Township and Fort Scott Fire Department doused a structure fire in the area of Charles and Pyle streets. Scott Township Chief Jason Eastwood said the fire originated in a metal outbuilding "like a barn" and burned the structure to the ground. He said the cause of the fire has not been determined...

COLUMBUS -- Six members of Fort Scott High School's wrestling team have qualified for State as a result of their finishes in the Columbus Class 4A Regional Tournament here over the weekend.
