Once again, the Bourbon County Commissioners find themselves in the middle of a fire district debate. This time, commissioners have been asked to cancel a contract that ensures fire coverage for residents living west of Fort Scott Lake. During their meeting Monday, commissioners learned that one of the fire districts involved doesn't agree with canceling the contract...

Once again the old fort was filled with troops on over the weekend. But these troops weren't armed and ready to defend the country, or even reenactors. These were members of the Boy Scout Mo-Kan District, which held its fall camp out in Fort Scott. Camp was set up at Riverfront Park on north National Avenue Friday evening. Flossie Irene Graham, 89, formerly of Redfield, Kan., died Sunday evening, Nov. 23, 2014 at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. She was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Griffin, Ind., the daughter of Jessie Roscoe and Irma Adrian (Wilson) Lumm. She married Charles Stephen Graham June 28, 1941 in Poseyville, Ind. He preceded her in death Dec. 20, 1978...
