A young woman from Linn County was injured in a vehicle chase and rollover following a pursuit by local law enforcement authorities late Saturday night. About 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Fort Scott Police Department officers were patrolling in the area of Wall and National when officers spotted a vehicle with no tail lights. Betty Jean Fetterly, age 84, former Fort Scott resident and more recently of Tulsa, Okla., died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at University Village Care in Tulsa. Services for Betty Fetterly will be announced by the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main St.

Donna Jane Carson, age 56, resident of Fort Scott, died Friday May 16, 2014, at the Fort Scott Manor. She was born July 25, 1957, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Emil Young and Virginia Moyer Young. Donna married Jack Carson, March 30, 1976. They later divorced. She enjoyed reading, painting, crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren...

WINFIELD -- Fort Scott High School senior Gage Addington was 2-2 at the Class 4A State Tennis Tournament this weekend, finishing his senior season with a record of 19-10. Addington opened tournament play with a 6-1, 6-2 win over sophomore Renton Williams of Andover Central on Friday. Fort Scott head coach said that Addington was able to get into rhythm and force Williams to make several errors...

CHANUTE -- The Chanute Tournament, the fourth and last of the Southeast Kansas League designated golf tournaments for the year which was interrupted by rain Monday, was completed Thursday. Guest school Iola won the team and individual crowns in the tournament but Fort Scott's Jonathan Allen finished well enough to become just the 17th player in league history to win two individual league championships and the 14th to do so in consecutive years...
