Jacob Thomas (Tom) Dixon, 83, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away on June 25, 2012. Mr. Dixon was born in Fort Scott, Kan. on April 28, 1929. He moved from Eldorado, Kan. to Orofino in 1973 with his wife, Judy, and their three children, where he stayed until 1984. After living in several parts of the country, he settled in Coeur d'Alene in 2000...

Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged altercation Thursday evening at a local residence that resulted in a local man being hospitalized. Just before 6 p.m., Fort Scott Police Department officers were dispatched to 611 Couch St. on a report of a disturbance involving multiple people. Upon arrival, officers and Bourbon County Sheriff's deputies discovered 21-year-old Andrew Woods at the scene with injuries to his face and head, an FSPD news release said...

About 50 riders saddled up for a two-day trail ride and a unique experience Friday morning at a ranch owned by Raymond and Diann Tucker south of Fort Scott.
