City officials look forward to better looking community after storm recovery is completed

Codes Manager Brent Crays updated the commission on the aftermath of a severe hail storm that hit Bourbon County on April 7. Crays said that since the storm, 400 building permits have been issued for repairs to local homes. He added the city has been so busy since the storm that it's a possibility the city could be issuing at least 100 building permits per day once the weather does not hamper repair efforts...

CHANUTE -- Fort Scott High School golfers finished in the top two spots in the Southeast Kansas League this season following the results of the fourth and final league-designated tournament here Monday. Jonathan Allen, the leader coming in, only finished 10th at the Chanute Invitational.
