100 YEARS AGO (1912) The Young Buffalo Wild West show's parade was pulled off this morning on schedule and was witnessed by many people. The aggregation comprised the usual wild west features, including cowboys and cowgirls, Indians, bands, some elephants and camels and winding up with the proverbial steam calliope. Tyler Alan Judah, 21, Nevada, Mo., was arrested Monday by the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office on a Bourbon County warrant for two counts of theft and burglary and is still being held at this time.

Dee Ann Davis has been initiated into the Molly Foster Berry Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Davis' ancestor is Martin Bottorff from Maryland, who aided revolutionary soldiers and signed the Oath of Fidelity and Support. She is married to Allen Davis and has two children. GARNETT -- Both Fort Scott and Uniontown had their share of struggles in the final regular-season golf tournament hosted by Anderson County here Monday. Fort Scott finished sixth in the 18-hole affair with its four-woman score of 453 while Uniontown was eighth out of nine full teams at 460...

This Sunday marks the 25th anniversary of the Fort Scott Chapter of Kansans for Life's Life Chain and volunteer coordinator Dara Leaming hopes a large following will come together for the event, which aims to raise awareness of abortion. Supporters will form a human chain from 1818 S. Main St., extending north as far as they can go with the number of people who show up. Turnout has ranged from 70-125 people in past gatherings...

A hot-button issue involving city-owned land recently opened to the public for hunting was once again broached during the Tuesday evening meeting of the Fort Scott City Commission. Local resident Ken Gau, who lives on the south side of Lake Fort Scott, appeared before the commission during the public comments portion of the gathering and encouraged them to reconsider their decision two weeks ago to approve by a 3-2 vote an amended accord between the city and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism allowing shotgun and bow hunting on noncontiguous land.. ...
