Ruby Helen Spillman, 96, formerly of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at her home in Kansas City, Mo. She died of natural causes. Ruby was born on Jan. 1, 1916, in Nevada, to Henry Warren and Helen (Litson) Pryor. On Sept. 8, 1935, she married Edwin Wayne Spillman and resided in Nevada until moving to Lee's Summit, Mo., in 1960. They built their retirement home on Table Rock Lake in 1974 and moved to Laguna Woods, Calif., in 1983...

W.P. Adams, 80, Nevada, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012, at Medicalodge of Nevada. He was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Rockville, Mo., to B.C. Adams and Iva Beatrice Richardson Adams. W.P. was raised in the Rockville and Pappinville areas where he attended Prairie City School. W.P. served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He drove a truck for more than 20 years. Nellie L. West, 92, former resident of Fort Scott, more recently of Kansas City, Mo., died Friday, April 27, 2012, at St. Luke's Medical Center on the Plaza in Kansas City. She was born Feb. 5, 1920, on the family farm near Kincaid, Kan., the youngest of 13 children born to George Russell Wiggans and Samantha Delph Wiggans. She married Elmer F. West on Nov. 4, 1955. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2007...

WALKER -- A bevy of Kansas City contractors descended on Northeast Vernon County Schools here and at Schell City last Monday to renovate 83-year-old lighting, wiring, insulation and heating and cooling systems.
