A home and workshop suffered significant damage as a result of a Tuesday afternoon blaze. Fort Scott Fire Department responded to a call shortly after noon to find an apartment and workshop, located at 621 E. Huntington Blvd., fully engulfed in a cloud of smoke. Fort Scott Fire Chief Paul Ballou said about 16 firefighters from Fort Scott and the Scott Township Rural Fire Department responded to fight the blaze for nearly three hours...

The class of 1950 met at the home of Mel and Fleeta Antrim, 801 S. Street, Dec. 8, for a carry in Christmas luncheon. The 112-year-old home was attractively decorated with Christmas decorations, both old and new. The afternoon was spent recalling past and present events. William Donald "Don" Payne, 53, Indianapolis, passed away Dec. 12, 2010. Don was a broadcast engineer for Radio One. While attending the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, he worked at radio stations, KAAY and KLPO.
