Tax preparers need PTINs

The Internal Revenue Service is contacting thousands of Kansas tax return preparers to remind them they have to renew their Preparer Tax Identification Number, or PTIN, before preparing tax returns next year. Despite chilly, rainy weather forcing two ceremonies indoors Thursday, Fort Scott did its part this Veterans Day to honor the men and women who serve in the armed forces. A Thursday morning program that normally takes place at the Fort Scott National Cemetery was moved to Memorial Hall due to inclement weather.
