Officials work towards Fort Scott college student union

Students at Fort Scott Community College could soon have more to do during their free time this school year. FSCC officials are currently planning the design and implementation of a new student union on the FSCC campus, 2108 S. Horton St. FSCC President Clayton Tatro said the idea for the center came about following strategic planning sessions last month involving FSCC administrators, local government officials, and the community, in which participants discussed future development ideas for the college; ways to enhance interaction between FSCC and the community; and methods that can be used to attract and retain students.. ...

Pfc. Cody Mumbower is getting a first-hand look at the destruction caused by Hurricane Gustav late last month in the southeastern United States. "I wasn't in Kansas anymore," the Fort Scott resident said Thursday of his initial reaction to seeing the destruction in Louisiana for the first time about a week ago.
