Remembering Korea To the Editor, Fifty eight years ago, on Sunday, June 28, ninety thousand North Koreans pushed across the 38th parallel in Korea and drove South. Before the conflict ended 37 months later, 103,200 Americans would be wounded and more than 54,000 killed. Records indicate that 502 Kansans were killed and another 103 are missing in action (289 Korean Veterans are buried at the Fort Scott National Cemetery)...

A big thanks goes to the following people, Julie Fry, for being the director of Bible School, and for these people that gave their time to help; John and Lorna Slater, Joe Ludlum and Dennis Fry. Thanks to the ladies who brought snacks for the children and adults to enjoy each morning. Theme for the school was "God's Family." The offering -- collected during three days of school -- was donated to the camp fund of the U.M.W. There were 12 children registered for the school...

Inmates provide positive service cleaning up community

To the Editor, I write this in honor and memory of my parents, Joe and Maxine Ruhl. While I haven't been a Fort Scott resident for many years, I was born and raised there and will always consider it "home." My parents are both buried at the National Cemetery. I wasn't able to make it up over Memorial Day weekend. So, Sunday night around 9:30 p.m. on our way through from a day trip, I stopped and put some flowers on their grave...
