Janet and Mark Vanleeuwen of St. Paul, Kan., took her parents, John and Vera Parrish of Pittsburg, to Branson, Mo. to celebrate Vera's birthday. They enjoyed two shows, a Sunday church service, and each evening had cobbler as a special treat. The Uniontown High School Class of 1965 held a reunion on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Kaiser Lake near Mapleton. A carry in lunch was enjoyed, along with brats and hot dogs cooked over the fire pit. The event was planned in honor of Larry and Kathie Hayden, Port Angeles, Wash. who were visiting in the area, and had not been back to Bourbon County for several years. A former Fort Scott resident was killed in a car accident April 7 in Saline County, Mo. Brendan K. Hulett, 18, Sweet Springs, Mo., was driving east on a south outer road about 1 1/2 miles west of Missouri Highway 127 around 10:19 p.m. April 7.
